Nel mondo di Ivalice ci si muove a "tappe" giornaliere, ciò significa che ogni spostamento corrisponde al trascorrimento di un giorno. Ci sono le città, i siti isolati e i luoghi con i mostri, come foreste, pianure, deserti ecc.. Anche nelle città ci si muove solo tramite menù, non c'è libertà di esplorazione come di consueto è negli altri FF.
